Turquoise seas, pristine beaches and year-long good weather make Bali an ideal location for a beach-side getaway. While Bali’s resort districts lie near the most popular beaches, the island’s many hidden beaches are worth exploring.
Close proximity to Bali’s Capital Denpasar, the island’s most popular Luxury Resort Bali lie nestled along Bali’s southern coastline. The island’s southern outcrop boasts many of Bali’s best beaches in the Seminyak, Legion, Kuta, Jimabaran, Uluwatu and Nusa Dua regions. Situated closest to Bali’s main tourist district, Kuta and Legion beaches are major tourist attractions. With strong ocean currents making the destination popular among surf-enthusiasts, this beach area enjoys a vibrant night-life. South of Kuta beach is Jimabaran Bay where its fish market and beachside restaurants attract hundreds of visitors to its shore. Away from the busy Kuta and Legion beaches are lesser-known beaches like Balangan, Dreamland and Uluwatu which offer ideal surf waves in a more private setting against views of majestic cliffs and ancient temples. The towering cliffs and caves around Padang-Padang beach were made famous when it posed as backdrops to the popular Hollywood film ‘Eat, Pray, Love’. Enroute to Nusa Dua, visit the secluded Nyang-Nyang beach to watch local fishermen harvest algae, one of Bali’s main exports. In the backyard of The Laguna Resort & Spa Bali, Nusa Dua beach and neighbouring Geger beach have calm waters suitable for snorkeling to explore Bali’s beautiful coral reef while surf waves can be found further along at the end of the Nusa Dua beach.
The collection of bays at Sanur and Padang-Bai in West Bali is ideal for snorkeling and a boat-ride from Padang-Bai Port to the deserted Lembongan Island is recommended. Also visit the unique beaches in northern Bali where lava from the mighty Mount Agung volcano has given Amed and Tulamben beaches their characteristic ‘black sand’ and nearby shipwrecks make this a popular place for diving. Lovina beach in Bali’s northern tip is a must-see because of its volcanic sand, natural hot-springs, calm seas and abundant sea-life with dolphins being sighted here.
