From the months of June till the end of September or October, you may have noticed a rise in the number of surfers walking heading in to the country – that’s because it’s surfing season in the most popular surfing beach in Sri Lanka; Arugam Bay!

Where is it?
Arugam Bay is beautiful and popular bay located on the east coast of this tropical island. If you’re planning to surf in Sri Lanka, Arugam Bay is the best place. Those looking to spend more time in the waves and less time on the roads, book a domestic flight with Cinnamon Air if you want to get to the east coast from the airport or the city really fast!
What to do?
Arugam Bay is great for surfers and even swimmers. The water is completely safe for swimming, just be careful not to bump into any surfers and their boards.
Surfing
Main Point is a great place to surf or watch people doing it. Whiskey Point is another recommended surfing spot for strong swimmers. Peanut Farm is ideal for surfing beginners.
Swimming
Pottuvil Point and Crocodile Rock are great if you just want to swim and enjoy the beautiful refreshing ocean waves.
