From November to April, the West, South West and Deep South of the island experiences fine weather and calm seas. The tropical scenery and well established Yala resorts make these areas popular even during the summer months of July and August. Sri Lanka’s Yala National Park is one of the great wildlife reserves of Asia. Apart from being the best location in the world to see a Leopard in the wild, there are ferocious Sloth Bears, huge Wild Buffalo, enormous Marsh Crocodiles and beautiful lake and lagoon habitats with stunning natural coastal scenery. There are many hotels in Yala, and the Secret Yala is one of the most sought after hotels in Yala. The hotel offers a unique camping experience, amidst the natural beauty of the jungle, under the stars and by the sea. The cuisine offered at the hotel are simply mouthwatering, local exotic cuisine or international cuisine or a laidback family barbecue or a romantic candlelit dinner can be enjoyed.
Turtles are often seen close to the beach shore by the large rock boulders during the daytime. Turtles frequently come to lay eggs along this undisturbed coastland stretch. Yala Beach is a very remote, white sandy beach. There are many opportunities for guests to walk along the beach without being hassled or disturbed by anybody. There are two contrasting beaches that are spectacular to photograph and experience personally. Guests who have done this hike will discover endless stretch of wide expanse undisturbed & undeveloped beach with high sand dunes which carry on for kilometers towards Bundala Park. The ocean current and wind factors differ on this side compared to the resort side beach and its lacks of beach boulders gives dramatic sunset photographic images. Yala is one of the few places where both sunrise & sunset can be observed and photographed.
